Inside Our Atelier

There is a particular stillness inside our atelier. It is the kind of quiet that comes from focus, from hands working with purpose, from cloth being shaped slowly and precisely. Every shirt, coat, and pair of trousers in our ready‑to‑wear collection comes to life here, crafted by hand in limited numbers by a small team of makers who understand the character of our fabrics better than anyone. 

The process starts in Elgin, where our cloth is woven on site. This is where the story of each garment begins. The raw fibres are dyed in bespoke shades, yarn is spun, the fabric is woven, and the material is finished just metres from where it will eventually be cut and sewn. Few brands can say their ready‑to‑wear pieces travel such a short distance from loom to garment. Fewer still can say they are made entirely under one roof. 

Craftsmanship by Hand

In our atelier, the work is unhurried. Patterns are cut by hand, seams are shaped with care, and every detail is considered. A tailored coat in our signature cashmere or wool takes time. The cloth must be coaxed into its form, pressed, eased and stitched with precision. A shirt requires the same attention, from the alignment of the placket to the clean roll of the collar. Trousers are shaped through careful pressing and hand‑finished seams that give them their refined line. 

These are not garments made in volume. Each piece is produced in limited numbers, allowing our makers to focus on quality rather than quantity. It is a way of working that feels increasingly rare, yet entirely natural to us. Craftsmanship has always been the foundation of our brand, and the atelier is where that heritage becomes tangible. 

Cloth Woven in Elgin 

The fabrics used in our ready‑to‑wear collection are woven in our Elgin mill, where traditional techniques meet modern innovation. Whether it is a pure cashmere coating, a structured wool twill or a soft brushed flannel, each cloth is developed with the atelier in mind. The weight, drape and handle are designed to support precise tailoring and clean, architectural lines.

Because the cloth is made here, our makers understand it intimately. They know how it behaves under the iron, how it responds to shaping, and how it settles into its final form. This connection between weaving and making is rare, and it gives our garments a sense of coherence that cannot be replicated elsewhere. 

Tailored Pieces for Modern Wardrobes

 

Our ready‑to‑wear collection is built around pieces that feel both refined and effortless. A tailored coat cut from our Elgin‑woven cashmere has a quiet confidence, its silhouette shaped by hand for a clean, modern line. A shirt crafted in the atelier carries the subtle precision of hand‑finished seams and carefully balanced proportions. Trousers are tailored with the same attention, designed to sit neatly and move easily. 

 

These garments are not about trends. They are about longevity, quality and the pleasure of wearing something made with intention. Each piece reflects the values that have guided us for more than two centuries: craftsmanship, material integrity and a deep respect for the making process. 



Limited Production, Considered Design 

Because every garment is made by hand, production is intentionally limited. This allows us to maintain the standards that define our work and ensures that each piece receives the time it deserves. It also means that our ready‑to‑wear collection remains quietly exclusive, shaped by the pace of true craftsmanship rather than the demands of mass production. 

A Modern Expression of Scottish Tailoring

Our atelier is not a relic of the past. It is a modern space where heritage techniques are used to create clothing for today. The garments crafted here are shaped by the same values that define our knitted and woven pieces: precision, authenticity and a commitment to making things well.
